FAQs
How do I care for my candle?
All candles, whether having a wood wick or cotton wick, should be trimmed down between 3/16" - 1/4” before each use. This, not only makes the candle safer to burn, but also reduces soot to keep the vessels interior cleaner.
We recommend burning your candle for the first time so that the wax burns evenly to the edges of the vessel. Having a flat surface after each burn will prevent tunneling and un-used wax build up.
For candles with wooden wicks, make sure there is not too much wood between the wax and the tip of the wick when lighting. This could cause the wick to extinguish quickly after lighting, or not light at all.
Discontinue burning the candle when 1/2" wax remains. Never burn your candle for more than four hours and always burn within sight. Always keep away from pets, children, and anything that is considered flammable.
It's important to adhere to all of the safety instructions from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). If you're looking for another candle resource, we recommend the American Candle Association.
Are your candles eco-friendly?
Yes, our candles are eco-friendly, made in small, hand poured batches here in the United States. Our Curated (11oz.) and Custom (14 oz.) collections are made with natural soy wax and cotton wicks.
Our In-House collection is all made with with natural soy wax and FSC approved wooden wicks. You can find our our wooden wick candles locally at The Well. Please view our Locations page for more information.
All of our candles are cruelty free and free of phthalates and petroleum.
What are those “wet spots” in my candle?
Those air pockets, or “wet spots,” are due to the way the wax cools in the vessel. During the candle making process, when the hot wax is initially poured into the vessel, it expands into the glass. When it cools, the wax shrinks causing those air pockets.
Because we use minimal branding and screen printed vessels instead of labels, you are able to see more of the “guts” of the candle. Although displeasing to the eye, it does not affect the candle’s burn quality. It’s just, well, candle science!
